Colombia. The Minister of the Interior, Juan Fernando Cristo, expressed his satisfaction with the work being done in Cali to reduce crime rates, which are expected to be below 60 homicides per 100,000 inhabitants by the end of the year.
The minister toured together with Mayor Rodrigo Guerrero Velasco two automatic dispatch centers from where all the security cameras are controlled, located in the city and inspected the assembly of one of the cameras that will supervise 44th Street with Carrera 9C.
There it was announced that Cali, before the end of the year, will have 754 more cameras, which added to the 480 already existing, will allow the capital of Valle del Cauca to have 1,234 cameras with full coverage, to provide security to the inhabitants of the city and be the city with the most cameras in the country.
The project has a value close to 30 billion pesos (US$9.8 million), of which the National Government contributes 22 billion pesos (US$7.2 million) and eight billion (US$2.6 million) pesos are the contributions of the Municipality.
