Latin America. Genetec announced the launch of the new AutoVu Plate Reader Cloud software, a new solution for the license plate recognition of its AutoVu, the Automatic License Plate Recognition (ALPR) system.
This new module will allow users to increase the functionalities of standard IP video surveillance cameras with ALPR capabilities instead of requiring a specialized license plate recognition unit. The AutoVu Plate Reader Cloud is expected to be available during the third quarter of 2015.
The AutoVu Plate Reader Cloud will provide an accessible solution that offers the same accuracy as AutoVu's most specialized units, in situations where vehicles are moving at speeds of up to 25 km/h, such as in the monitoring of parking areas, automatic gates, garage door opening operations, and data mining, among others.
The AutoVu Plate Reader Cloud ALPR engine will be hosted in the Cloud, making it easy to install and maintain. Updates for the AutoVu Plate Reader Cloud that contain the latest enhancements and media will be applied automatically without the need for customer intervention or the system to be idle. The AutoVu Plate Reader Cloud connects to cameras managed by Genetec's Security Center software, the company's most important unified and flagship video surveillance, access control and ALPR platform.
The use of either system is triggered by detecting motion or when lines are crossed, or hardware is actuated, including ground loop and IR sensors. The AutoVu Plate Reader Cloud will detect vehicles, and upload short-lived encrypted videos to the cloud-based engine, where the image will be analyzed. The data will be sent back to the local Security Center system, usually in less than a second, to be compared to vehicle lists, and used to document input/output credentials, open gates, or trigger alerts.
With the AutoVu Plate Reader Cloud, customers will benefit from an extensive set of AutoVu ALPR features, and will be fully unified with the Security Center. Based on the company's long experience in ALPR, customers of Genetec's AutoVu Plate Reader Cloud can take advantage of the flexible list management system, an intuitive user interface, and an advanced reporting engine for a complete ALPR experience.
To ensure customers get a high level of accuracy and choice, the AutoVu Plate Reader Cloud will work with cameras that have been tested by Genetec experts. When launched, customers will have the ability to select cameras from three different manufacturers that have completed certification, which include Axis Communications, Panasonic and Sony. Currently, there are more manufacturers that are in the process of being certified.
"Genetec's AutoVu product line has always offered superior accuracy and advanced features. The AutoVu Plate Reader Cloud will allow us to leverage our years of experience and leadership in accessible and easy-to-install ALPR solutions for applications where vehicle speed is low and controlled, such as in parking areas, access through the gate, without sacrificing autoVu's quality and accuracy , solution that is highly respected by the industry," said Stephan Kaiser, Managing Director, AutoVu. "We are very excited to offer these option extensions in conjunction with Genetec's specialized AutoVu Sharp and AutoVu SharpX ALPR units to both our existing and new customers. These have been designed to provide the highest accuracy of superior quality cameras under any atmospheric conditions or high speeds of moving vehicles (up to 320 km/h), "added Kaiser.
