Uruaguay. Gemalto will supply its Sealys ID card and Coesys Issuance solution to Uruguay's Ministry of the Interior for that country's electronic identification program.
Gemalto's instant issuance solution enables secure document delivery by more than 20 locations across the country. The microprocessor on the polycarbonate card provides strong user authentication and digital signature for that nation's suite of government electronic services.
The document complies with OIAC regulations, which makes it an official travel document within Mercosur and associated countries. The card will have both contact and contactless chips, include fingerprint technology based on the comparison of data on the card, and the ability for digital signatures.
Gemalto will provide consultation services throughout the implementation process, supporting the Ministry of the Interior of Uruguay in the incorporation of third parties, such as banks, tax collection agencies or social security administrations to accelerate the adoption of the service. The contract also includes maintenance and support services for five years.
