International. The Municipal Police of Madrid recently completed a major project by installing Vivotek cameras in their patrol cars.
Based on the criteria of the Technical Services of the General Directorate of Security of the Council of Madrid, the implementation of the project was led by the local integrator Plettac Electronics using Vivotek cameras of the distributor LSB. A total of 126 cameras of the brand were included for the project, including the IP8332 and PZ8121W.
The PZ8121W cameras were installed on top of the patrol car panel to monitor the interior of the vehicle and the surrounding area. Taking advantage of the camera's built-in 3GPP mobile connectivity and WiFi capabilities, images captured by the camera are transmitted over the Internet to a control center of the police headquarters for monitoring, recording, and administration.
Staff can also benefit from the motorized PZ8121W with its 10x pan, tilt, and zoom capabilities , which allow them to focus on certain objects, people, or events of interest.
Each patrol car has not only one, but three Vivotek cameras, two of them are IP8332 cameras that have been installed on the roof of the PMM patrol car and are responsible for monitoring around the vehicles and capturing useful images. Each camera is connected to an Internet-capable PC with which the PMM has equipped each patrol car .
Based on the proposal of the Technical Services of the General Directorate of Security of the Council of Madrid, Plettac Electronics has developed an automated plate recognition system (LPR), which integrates the high resolution of the IP8332 cameras, the PC, and constantly updates the databases to provide real-time identification, In addition to the comparison of license plate numbers, immediately alerts the police the presence of stolen vehicles or other vehicles of interest.
As for the camera, the IP8332 is a 1-megapixel bullet-type network camera that is perfect for applications like the PMM. This camera not only captures high-quality video, but you will also be able to do so in various lighting conditions both during the day and night as it features removable IR cut filter and effective IR illuminators at distances of up to 15 meters.
In addition, the camera is protected with an IP66 rated cover to ensure that it can withstand even harsh weather conditions .
According to Plettac Electronics, the Madrid City Council established the security system project in order to provide police with real-time information about the situation on the street while police officers are in their patrol cars. With the help of components such as the LPR system, the project has been a brilliant success.
Vivotek cameras are helping to secure the patrol cars of the Madrid police, and ensure the safety of police and the citizens of Madrid.
