International. Elpas, which is part of Tyco's (NYSE: TYC) Security Products business unit, introduced the Lone Worker Emergency Call Transmitter as part of its Emergency Call Solution. The transmitter was launched at the prestigious IFSEC 2014 global security trade fair.
The transmitter ensures that those employees who may suffer attacks or injuries during the performance of their duties, and who are not accompanied by other workers or supervisors, can alert about their situation and in response, it is possible to send aid personnel to the exact place where the security incident is occurring.
Through Elpas' real-time location technology (RTLS), the unit transmits real-time location data that identifies the name and location of the employee who needs help. This information can be used to manage emergency response actions.
"In high-risk environments, such as detention centers, petrochemical plants or other hazardous environments, workers must be able to transmit information about their location and situation as quickly and accurately as possible, even when they are being the victim of an attack," said David Fensterheim, vice president of product management at Elpas. "The emergency call transmitter for employees working alone is a critical component of our global emergency call solution, enabling accurate, real-time data transmission when it's needed most."
The transmitter is equipped with two emergency buttons, located on each side of the unit, to manually activate the wireless coercion alert. Additionally, the equipment comes with an incline sensor switch and a traction cord, both of which automatically send an alarm in case a worker who is alone is knocked down, or becomes unconscious, or if the unit is violently snatched from the victim.
The call transmitter, fully resistant to weather conditions, is designed to eliminate false alarms, thanks to a unique front button to erase warning signs.
