Internaiconal. Milestone Systems, the open platform IP video management software (VMS) company, announced a new licensing concept for analog cameras used with the upcoming 2014 XProtect VMS product family.
In the new licensing model, only one license is required for hardware devices per encoder unit of analog to IP signals, regardless of the number of analog cameras that are connected to the encoder. This new Milestone licensing concept is effective May 21 and will apply to the entire XProtect 2014 VMS product family.
Milestone's XProtect video management system, based on open platform technology, is compatible with more than 200 encoders from more than 50 manufacturers, offering users a wide range of options to choose from.
This new concept makes it possible for customers using analog cameras to seamlessly migrate to digital video. These customers can get all the benefits of IP video management software for a reasonable price, even if they use analog cameras. Additionally, the transition from analog to IP video can be made at the time that is most convenient for the customer. Analog infrastructure can operate in parallel with the new IP technology, making the transition gradual. Analog cameras can be switched to digital cameras as the need arises.
Christian Bohn, Vice President of Marketing and Corporate Alliances at Milestone Systems said: "This new licensing model is an opportunity to evolve offered to customers using analog cameras. Thanks to it, they will be able to access all the benefits of digital video management at a low cost, and at the same time continue to use analog cameras. Customers can migrate at their own pace to IP solutions, while maintaining the consistency of an easily scalable VMS platform over time. I think this is the easiest way to enter the digital future with open platform technology."
