Mexico. Axis Communications maintains its global position as a market leader in the categories of network cameras and security cameras, now it has also taken the first place in video encoders. This is shown in a new report from analytics and information firm, IHS.
"We have strengthened our position thanks to our long-term strategy and vision, continuously announcing new products and innovations and it happens by the fact that we offer very high quality security solutions together with our loyal business partners," said Fernando Esteban Regional Manager of Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean for Axis Communications. "IHS estimates high growth in the market over the next 5 years, however, slightly lower than observed in recent years. IHS also indicates that the market today is more fragmented, with multiple manufacturers offering network video products for security solutions."
Axis continues with the number one position and is the global market leader in the categories of network cameras as well as security cameras. The category of security cameras includes both analog cameras and IP video cameras.
In 2012, Axis further strengthens its position in the market, taking the first place in the category of video encoders. A video encoder is an interface that connects one or more analog cameras and digitizes the video signal to make it possible to use the advantages of a network solution.
According to the IHS, network cameras will account for more than 50% of global surveillance camera sales by 2014. This compares to the share of global network camera sales in 2012, which amounted to about 40 percent, according to IHS Research.
