Mexico. HID Global announced that it will participate in the 2013 Government of Mexico Information Exchange program, which has been convened by the Smart Card Alliance Latin America (SCALA). This program was created to expand the smart credential industry's relationships with governments in the Latin American region. The 2013 program will take place at the Marriott Hotel in Mexico City on May 29.
Claudio Pérez Tobacow, senior sales manager of HID Global's secure identity solutions division for governance programs in Latin America, will present the conference "The 'Green Card' of the United States: Identification of Residents and their Benefits". The Green Card is an electronic identity credential with advanced multiple technologies, combining intelligent credential technology with HID Global's LaserCard® optical security media. The presentation will also include a unique perspective on factors driving industrial innovation and the adoption of new technologies.
"HID Global is a founding member of SCALA and we share a commitment to promoting the benefits of a broad base of smart card technologies for government identification programs with citizens of Latin America and the Caribbean," said Claudio Pérez Tobacow. "We believe 2013 will be a watershed year for the identity and security industry, due to significant advances in smart card technology that will drive greater security and an unprecedented user experience in existing as well as new markets."
SCALA brings together its members, expert organizations and industry leaders, in an open forum to provide the best information in an impartial manner. This allows governments to collect information relevant to institutional projects and thus select the best technology, solutions, equipment and companies that will supply such products or services.
The focus areas of the Government-Mexico Information Exchange are: Civil Registry, National Identification, Electronic Passports, Driver's Licenses, Access Control, Public Key Infrastructure, Medical Services and related topics.
SCALA also announced that Claudio Pérez Tobacow of HID Global has been appointed executive secretary of the SCALA associates' board committee. Among Pérez Tobacow's new responsibilities are inviting companies to join as SCALA associates, helping to coordinate the strategy of the events, voting in board meetings on SCALA's future actions, as well as evaluating and accepting new members of the organization.
