Mexico. In the limits of the municipality of Nezahualcóyotl, State of Mexico, with the delegations Iztapalapa, Iztacalco and Venustiano Carranza, the installation of 500 video surveillance cameras will be carried out, to reinforce security in that area, where the levels of insecurity and violence have increased within the Mexican municipality.
After the announcement, the mayor of Nezahualcóyotl, Juan Zepeda Hernández, explained that according to recent studies on crime rates in the town, which analyzes the behavior and modus operandi of offenders, it has been detected that some of them reside in the Iztapalapa delegation and enter the municipality to commit various crimes and vice versa, but in the absence of evidentiary evidence, police action is limited.
In this sense, it was agreed with authorities of the delegations that will participate in the program, that each government will contribute a proportional part for the installation of video cameras, with the intention of establishing a surveillance cordon along the adjoining areas, which will be able to better face crime.
The mayor of Mexico stressed that the commitment of his administration is to have 1,000 surveillance cameras throughout the municipal territory, which will be similar to those operating in the Federal District.
