Argentina. The governor of the province of Neuquén, Jorge Sapag, revealed that the company Telefónica won the tender for the installation of the citizen monitoring system.
The information was confirmed at the end of the opening of the 2013 regular sessions by the Secretary of State for Public Management of the provincial government, Rodolfo Laffite, who said that the company applied for "a sum of around 22 million pesos (about US$4.4 million)."
He explained that although the contract establishes that in the next six months the installation of the devices will begin, there will be partial stages, "and by the end of the year the 250 cameras will be working in streets, routes and confectioneries and the monitoring center."
The award is in the administrative stage, the official said, adding that the total project is 600 cameras, "but for now 250 were prioritized."
