Uruguay. They will install a video surveillance system in Centro and Ciudad Vieja, which will allow monitoring people, vehicles and buildings. Likewise, the authorities of the Ministry of the Interior intend to reduce crimes in the area by up to 70%.
The cameras will be connected to the video surveillance center owned by the Ministry of the Interior. This will make it possible to monitor people, vehicles and buildings.
The Minister of the Interior, Eduardo Bonomi, explained that it is the first saturation video surveillance center that will place cameras throughout the Ciudad Vieja neighborhood and in the center of the capital, up to Germán Barbato Street.
Bonomi explained that international experience shows a 70% drop in crime rates in the areas that have this surveillance system.
The project includes the redesign of the police deployment and its mode of action. The financing will be made through a public-private agreement and the tender will be launched in mid-March.
This model is inspired by the one that already exists in Puerto Madero, Buenos Aires, one of the safest places in the Argentine capital.
