The resources that the city council will apply will come from the Municipal Public Security Subsidy (Subsemun) 2012, of which it will receive at the end of this month 30% of the total allocated to Ecatepec that corresponds to just over 41.3 million pesos.
Mayor Indalecio Ríos Velázquez attended the signing of the Agreement and Technical Links for the Subsemun Ministry 2012.
At the headquarters of the Executive Secretariat of the National Public Security System (SESNSP), in the Federal District, the mayor explained that with this first ministership more police will be hired and equipment such as bulletproof vests, uniforms, weapons and ammunition will be strengthened.
"We are going to invest to hire more personnel, acquire more patrols, professionalization courses and training for the elements, in addition to finalizing the certification of the police," he announced.
According to the guidelines of the Subsemun, more than 8.2 million will be allocated for crime prevention and citizen participation; more than 11.6 million for professionalization, just over 19.3 million for equipment and 2.1 million for infrastructure.
Ríos Velázquez said that it is contemplated to expand the video surveillance system of the municipality with 50 cameras that will be added to the 43 installed in the main roads and acquire a thousand panic buttons to increase the 2,400 that are already in operation in the territory.
