WINGS is valuable information for the industry

WINGS has many missions. That of training and raising the professional level of the industry, we are fulfilling it at a good pace, adding certified people throughout the continent, expanding the areas of knowledge in which we operate, expanding the territory in which we teach the courses, with the support of allies, with the support of the partners, with the participation of all those who make up ALAS.

But there is another mission, which underpins the first. It is to inform the partners about what is happening in the industry, about what the partners do, about what we are achieving step by step. Also about what others do that is worthy of emulation, of replicating and transmitting.

And this is the case of an excellent FBI audiovisual on CCTV best practices. In just over 20 minutes, the American research agency points out some of the fundamental topics to understand and apply when installing a CCTV system.

ALAS took this audiovisual, translated it, subtitled it and put it on his Youtube channel so that all professionals in our industry can see it. Given the number of reproductions, we are on the right track in the purpose of disseminating this valuable information. And from now on, it will be a requirement that all participants in the CCTV 1 course of ALAS, see all the audiovisual to be able to take the course.

The ALAS channel on Youtube www.youtube.com/ALASseguridad is full of valuable information about electronic security: technical tips on CCTV, introductory comments on the content of the courses, the museum of intrusion alarms, among others.

And we will continue to be attentive to identify audiovisual productions of high added value to make them available to Latin American professionals.

Excellent results 2011 and new challenges for 2012

In 2011 we had a year of great activity in the association: more participation in the different fairs and events of the industry, more certified professionals in the courses we taught with respect to previous years, technological breakfasts as a space to promote business among entrepreneurs, new companies joined and many others ratified their spirit to continue being partners.

And in the months of November and December when many organizations make their balance sheets of the activities carried out in the year, we did not stop. At that time, the new Steering Committee of ALAS Mexico was elected, inter-institutional relations were consolidated with important entities of the governments of Colombia and the Dominican Republic and different projections were made so that 2012 will be a great year of management for ALAS that will be reflected in the growth of the industry.

New Steering Committee of ALAS Mexico was elected
On November 15, the ALAS Mexico Members Assembly was held in which, after an active deliberation and welcoming the different proposals of the candidates, the representatives of more than 20 partner companies elected the new Steering Committee of ALAS Mexico, which will serve in the position until 2013.

As president of the Steering Committee was appointed the engineer Francisco Javier Fernández; while in the vice presidency will be Samuel Ortiz Coleman, and at the head of the Treasury will serve Andrés Macias Valadez.

Among the proposals of the Work Plan for the biennium 2011-2013 made by the engineer Fernández, the one to develop the inclusion and permanence of the members by strengthening their professionalization and education stands out.

Fernández echoed among the representatives of the partner companies when proposing strategic alliances and agreements with the different associations of the sector. This in order to share forums of interest among its partners, which would allow greater market share and success in joint events.

Among the strategic agreements that the new president of ALAS Mexico plans to advance, associations such as IMEI, ASIS Mexico Chapter, ANCE, CIME, NFPA, and AMERIC are a priority, with the intention of creating standards, specifications and recommendations that have to do with the security sector in Mexico and Latin America.

Another of the objectives set in his candidacy by the new head of the Association in Mexico, is to purify the database of associates and the market to turn it into a reliable and efficient source of information, in which associates find a tool for analysis and decision making.

In this meeting, the engineer Salvador Gómez Martínez, outgoing president of the Chapter, presented his report of activities, which highlighted the good results that have been obtained. Víctor Alarcón Riaño, Executive Director of ALAS, presented a recognition to the engineer Gómez Martínez for his work at the head of ALAS Mexico.

During the visit to the Dominican Republic of the director of marketing and sales of ALAS, Jennifer Cardona, a meeting was held with the Superintendence of Private Security. The meeting was also attended by Yanira Estevez, education coordinator for the Dominican Republic of ALAS, Superintendent Bienvenido Cordero, General Camacho and Major De la Rosa.

The meeting reiterated the importance for the electronic security industry in that country of this alliance and the advantages it will bring to companies, technicians and professionals in general by being supported by both institutions.

"Having the support of this maximum surveillance entity in the Dominican Republic gives more weight to our training courses, these will be more recognized by the security sector in the country and for industry professionals it will be a plus in the different activities in which they participate as tenders and new projects, "- said Jennifer Cardona, director of marketing and sales for ALAS.

"It will also confirm the knowledge they have of the subject by having the ALAS certification supported by the Superintendence of Surveillance and Private Security of the country," Cardona said.

To finalize this strategic agreement, a document will be signed that contains, among other points: The Superintendence will be an Honorary Partner of ALAS.

The certificates of the graduates, as well as the publicity that is made to promote the ALAS courses in the Dominican Republic will have the logos of the two entities, the Superintendence will provide support to the different events that the association carries out in that country.

On November 30, at the office of the Colombian National Police of the Congress of the Republic, a meeting was held with Brigadier General José Roberto León Riaño, deputy director of the National Police, to advance on the issue of a possible alliance between ALAS and this honorable institution.

On behalf of the association, the executive director, Víctor Alarcón Riaño, and the director of communications and public relations, Luz Adriana Álvarez, attended.

The meeting reiterated the importance of the two entities being able to carry out joint work in the future to further strengthen the image of the security industry before the citizens, for this ALAS would have the Colombian National Police as an honorary partner.
In addition, it was presented in a concrete way:

The entire WINGS service portfolio
The activities we develop for the industry, including the agreements we have with the most important fairs. The approach we have had with the National Police of Colombia through Colonel Gordillo, who was a lecturer in the academic program of the last International E&S Security Fair

At the end of the meeting, a special recognition was given to the Colombian National Police for its 120 years of activity and service for the benefit of Colombian society.

Likewise, with the aim of generating more representativeness for the industry and seeking possible alliances with the entities of the governments of the countries of the region, ALAS visited the headquarters of the Superintendency of Surveillance and Private Security of Colombia in Bogotá.

The meeting was attended by Tatiana González Cerón, Delegate Superintendent for the Operation;  Marcela Castro Macias, Delegate Superintendent for Control; Claudius Bezerra as member and representative of the Board of Directors of ALAS, Víctor Alarcón Riaño, executive director and Luz Adriana Álvarez, director of communications and public relations.

One of the main topics of the meeting was the certification courses and Colombian entities that could work hand in hand with ALAS to increase training, look for new topics and thus achieve the professionalization of more Colombian technicians, being the Superintendence of Surveillance and Private Security of Colombia the bridge so that ALAS can reach the other institutions regulated by this organization.
