12/10/2011. IBM has released the results of its Biannual X-Force Report on Trends and Risks for 2011, which highlights the existence of greater vulnerability in mobile devices due to the presence of even more sophisticated threats derived from the development of this market.
This report is based on information gathered by IBM in the analysis of approximately 12,000 daily security-related events, and among its conclusions highlights that by the end of 2011 the number of attacks on mobile security will have doubled compared to the previous year.
The adoption of corporate mobile devices and tablets by companies is posing new problems of
safety. The report recommends that IT departments always use anti-malware software and security patch management programs.
Among the main conclusions of the study is the fact that harmful software spreads through third-party applications. Mobile phones are an easy target, as the number of users grows rapidly and the way to "infect" devices is very simple.
In addition, in many cases harmful software is designed to collect user information that can then be used in phishing attacks or identity theft.
