International . According to a study revealed by IMS Research, called "The global market for CCTV and video surveillance equipment – 2011 edition", this sector continued to achieve strong growth in 2010, more than 10% over the previous year, despite the aftermath of the global economic crisis.
This growth is partly due to the number of sales of network video surveillance equipment. According to study author Gary Wong, "While the global market for analog surveillance equipment declined relatively in 2010, the global network video surveillance market has continued to grow nearly three times the total market in that period, or more than 30%."
Wong added that "if Chinese analog video surveillance equipment were removed from the equation, the analog markets of the Americas and Emea would have contracted. Two factors impacted the decline of these solutions: the level of large companies and their transition to network video solutions and the increase in price competition / commodification in the medium-low level of the analeógo market."
The growth of network video surveillance continues to be driven by the filtering effect of government stimulus projects and the increasing penetration of higher-value network video surveillance products, such as high-definition cameras.
IMS Research estimates that the growth of the networked market and the fall of analog will lead a transition in 2014, when the former outperforms the latter in terms of sales revenue. However, it should be noted that in terms of shipments it is expected that in 2014 analog cameras will continue to outsell network cameras.
