The report reveals that although the UK continues to be the main business hub of this market, the Emea region (Europe, Middle East and Africa) will not recover its growth rates until after 2014. The opposite is true in the United States, where figures show that the $68 million estimated in 2010 forecasts more than double that value over the next five years, due to investment in security to detect serious and complex crimes.
According to Paul Everett, author of the report, "In previous years license plate recognition projects in the U.S. were generally small and sporadic. The market also saw a slowdown in new projects during 2008 and 2009, some were put on hold. However, the market is coming back and seeing projects of a much larger size."
