Security directors from the world's most influential organizations and security managers weighed in on the impact on their organizations' security functions. According to the results, the need for security has increased.
Indications are strongest among safety directors, who reported a 78% increase, compared to 66% of managers. Both groups had similar experiences in terms of direct impacts, with a majority reporting of budget constraints for travel, professional development and training, as well as postponements and freezes on hiring, equipment purchases and technology.
Security managers in general are better prepared to face significant reductions in resources and their contingency plans tended to be more strategic and attached to the concept of corporate risk management.
