In recent months the Internet Address Registry for Latin America and the Caribbean (Lanic), warned about the exhaustion of Internet IP addresses under the IPv4 protocol, since it is estimated that less than 18% of the total IP addresses of that version are currently available.According to Lanic's estimate, in three years the numbering of protocol four will be completed, so it will be necessary to adopt the IPv6 protocol before 2011; in this way, Latin America and the Caribbean must begin to transform the networks for the use of version six. Likewise, the organization will carry out a campaign to support the changes of the networks by adding permanent information on the subject.
