Colombia. Committed to citizen security, the national government decided to invest a significant sum of money in the implementation of security systems that would support the work of police agencies.
Local media in this country reported that the capitals in which these mechanisms will be installed are Valledupar, Cali, Riohacha, Armenia, Cúcuta that seek to stop any criminal act.
50,000 million pesos (about US $ 20 million) will be the figure allocated for this purpose as reported.
In his speech, the Minister of Interior pointed out that for Armenia more than 300 more devices will be installed to reinforce security in the city, highlighting that cameras have proven to be a crucial element in the fight against crime.
These initiatives are in addition to those in cities such as Bogotá, where 4,000 cameras are linked to the emergency system and line 123.
The initiative also seeks to generate a commitment to a faster attention of the authorities to avoid aggressions, and with this system the range of georeferencing would be a tool to prevent any type of crime, especially in poorly lit and busy areas.
