Thank you!

We carried out with total success the second edition of the ALAS Management Summit, which was held in Panama on August 18 and 19.

We worked hard to get there and together with ours, the effort, support and commitment of the 5 Gold Sponsor companies of the Summit was important: Honeywell Fire Systems, Pelco, SONY, LG Security Systems, and ANIXTER.

We also thank the other exhibitors: AXIS, HID, NVT, Pivot 3, Digital Identification Solutions, Acrosoft, Intelektron, Labor Honesty, Security Sales, Security in America, and Expo Seguridad Mexico.

It is all these companies that, with their support, made our second ALAS Management Summit possible. An event that in its second version, is consolidated as the meeting of the partners and friends of ALAS, in a meeting of intense managerial reflection and with the best possible atmosphere.

An event that we want to consolidate as unique, because there is no forum that allows managers and business owners to meet exclusively to stop along the way, far from their realities, to examine themselves, listen to conferences on strategy and management from various specialists and make valuable conclusions to apply in their business fields.

Thank you all: Sponsors, exhibitors, speakers, support staff and attendees. It fills us with joy to obtain such excellent results and to see the satisfaction of those who participated, during and after the ALAS Management Summit of Panama concluded.

A big greeting,

Victor Alarcon,
Chief executive officer

A dynamic and latent partnership
If we stop for a moment to analyze the importance of there being an entity that brings together everyone's ideas and conjugates them, that links technicians and professionals to be trained, that certifies people to give companies an improvement in the quality of processes through their human talent, because we surely say that for that and among other things, there is the Latin American Security Association.

There are associations or business associations for all industries and sectors of the economy, some better known than others but all aiming at the same goal: to carry out a collective activity in a stable way, with common objectives or common activities for a given sector.

And if there is something that makes us all interact, that we share knowledge and information, that we debate, that we reflect on the industry and its scope in society, that promotes business, and that also characterizes us on other sectors of the economy, it is the security fairs. For ALAS these spaces are fundamental since they are par excellence the meeting point and interaction for the industry.

Active participation in the region
This year our presence in the different scenarios in the industry has been consolidated. We participated in Expo Seguridad México, ISC Brasil, Seguriexpo Argentina, XXVI Congress of Banking Security – CELAES, in Miami; with great enthusiasm, dedication and success we held in Panama the ALAS Management Summit – our great event – and produced the academic program at the International E&O Security Fair, in Colombia.

Expo Seguridad México
The ninth edition of the fair, which was held between April 12 and 14 at the Banamex Center in Mexico City, served as a framework for the presentation of more than 60 new technologies and products.

As usual, this year ALAS joined forces with Security Sales, our official publication, in a very interactive booth that served as a meeting point for many entrepreneurs and visitors.

ALAS was also the protagonist in the academic program of the fair, with keynote speakers of international stature who presented current issues of the security industry and which had an important attendance.

ISC Brazil
To continue with the objective of expanding its presence in vertical market events, ALAS participated again in ISC Brazil that took place from April 26 to 28, at the Expo Center Norte in São Paulo.

ALAS once again supported this great event and on our behalf was the president of ALAS, Eng. Eduardo Vargas, who actively participated in the opening acts and other important moments in the three days of the fair.

Seguriexpo Argentina
The association also attended the main electronic security fair in Argentina and the Southern Cone. At their booth, ALAS displayed advertising banners and distributed foldables among attendees interested in memberships and courses.

Víctor Alarcón, executive director, was representing the association and held important meetings with WINGS partners from Argentina and Uruguay, and also had a meeting with the president of the Argentine Chamber of Electronic Security (CASEL), Marcelo Colanero, to continue with the joint work of training and professional training between ALAS and CASEL in the coming months.

ALAS Management Summit 2011
In 2010 we created the ALAS Management Summit, an environment of debate and exchange between managers of security companies from different countries, which did not exist before. The first edition of this event was held in Miami.  This year the Summit was held on August 18 and 19 in Panama and was a success.

We have the participation of about 200 attendees and a complete program of conferences with the support of speakers of high level and with extensive experience in the international arena.

For example, we obtained the support of INCAE, one of the main business schools in Latin America, which was represented by Professor Julio Sergio Ramírez, professor of this prestigious entity and who presented a special conference on the management of the XXI Century.

We also had the presence of Ely Magendzo, a renowned Chilean specialist in high motivational impact presentations aimed at enhancing management skills. We were also accompanied by Ricardo Martínez Rivadeneira, an experienced lecturer who presented the topic Balanced Score Card.

We also had a conference on security as a service, presented by Samuel Yecutieli, Venezuelan security entrepreneur and scholar of the subject, with fieldwork in several cities in Latin America.

To see the point of view of end users, we had the presence and conference of Eng. Gerardo del Lago, security manager for Latin America of Laureate International Universities, who spoke about security strategies on university campuses and spoke about the end user/security provider relationship, from his end user point of view.

The new marketing for electronic security was also another of the topics presented by the speaker Juan José Becerra. The Argentine manufacturing company, Intelktron, presented a success story through its founder and president Marcelo Colanero. And Mike Perkins, vice president of global security solutions at Anixter, spoke about IT convergence and electronic security.

It was also very appropriate that an executive of the Panama Canal Authority spoke about the expansion project of this great work, the exhibition was in charge of Mr. Antonio Michel, Executive Manager of Protection and Emergency Response of the Panama Canal Authority

As a culmination, this year again the Manufacturers Discussion Panel, was one of the central points of the Management Summit, In this panel participated sales managers of manufacturing companies.

No other entity, dedicated to serving the industry, will host an event for managers of Latin American security companies to meet to discuss, network and exchange experiences in an environment focused and dedicated to them. WINGS does this and we are pleased to continue delivering high quality content to the industry. We are already making plans for the 2012 Management Summit.

Academic program at the International Security Fair, E+S 2010
ALAS had an important participation in the International Security Fair, E+S that was held from September 6 to 9 in Medellín, Colombia, when organizing the Academic Program.

This program had a complete offer:

  • Manufacturers panel. Constituted by managers of the manufacturing companies who will answer 5 pre-designed questions. After the questions, there will be a round of questions from the audience.
  • WINGS Course: CCTV - LEVEL 1 - Instructor. Ing. Germán Cortés.

Congress of CELAES/FELABAN
ALAS was also present at the XXV Congress on Banking Security, organized by the Latin American Committee on Banking Security of the Latin American Federation of Banks (FELABAN) and held on September 15 and 16 in Miami.

This congress was attended by about 400 attendees, security managers of banks throughout Latin America, providers of banking security systems, specialized media, among others.
