Mexico. With a CCTV system with 40 cameras of different types, as well as the implementation of a monitoring center, the Port of Tampico Madero, located on the east coast of this country, was modernized.
This port serves as an entry and exit for mining products, petrochemicals, steel, minerals, agricultural bulk, oversized structures, among other industrial products. It has a total of 11 berthing positions with 2,147 linear meters in its public terminals and specialized equipment for the handling of a wide variety of goods.
The Port of Tampico offers extensive regular services from shipping lines that link it to more than 100 countries around the world.
The export movement of oil and petroleum products through the port of Tampico is of such magnitude that it requires a comprehensive security system to protect its personnel, facilities and assets. This motivated the interest in carrying out a complete video surveillance project for its crude oil export area, as well as its perimeter and surrounding areas.
To strengthen security, the Puerto Madero Maritime Terminal needed special attention to be paid to reliable monitoring of crude oil export activities. To do this, they sought out the specialist technology consultancy Yookolkaab, with an innovative methodology and the necessary know-how to manage a transformation project like this, which included cutting-edge and effective technology such as Hikvision's.
The Installation
The project included an infrastructure based on the provision of a LAN network for CCTV service based on SFTP Cat 6 structured cabling for 40 cameras, including anti-explosion and anti-corrosion bullet type and Hikvision PTZ cameras for saline and anti-explosion environment, placed in strategic areas, which allows critical infrastructure to be monitored throughout the day.
Additionally, a Monitoring Center was implemented at ANAM Tampico Madero Customs Center, in the Pemex Tampico Madero Administrative Building, Tamaulipas, to help make security management easier through clear and accurate images, even in low-light environments.
"Security integration helps us keep critical operations running, making our jobs easier when monitoring becomes smarter and more effective. On the other hand, explosion-proof cameras fulfill a double function both in security and in safe operational monitoring," says Jesús Rodríguez, Maritime Project Manager of the Puerto Madero Maritime Terminal.
Meanwhile, Jesús Flores, Yookolkaab's Operations Manager, reports that the Puerto Madero Maritime Terminal has given an important boost to its security, by having Hikvision technologies and solutions in its complex that provide greater reliability and peace of mind to Port managers.
Finally, he says that they will provide a maintenance service for three years, through a premium policy that will replace damage to equipment, as well as any material installed by Yookolkaab, at no cost. In addition, he says, they will present a project for a global monitoring center to monitor the 32 ports, in which a video surveillance system will be installed for crude oil export processes with the help of the HikCentral Professional unified security system.
