International. The Genetec brand launched, within the framework of this year's ISC WEST, its new Streamvault Edge line, a solution that allows the gradual migration of security systems to a hybrid cloud architecture without interrupting operations.
The advantage of this device, which is based on the Linux operating system, is that it is an easy-to-install and low-maintenance edge device. All this means that the commissioning, implementation and management of remote sites, which are connected, are simple and direct, without requiring specialized IT knowledge.
The Streamvault Edge allows organizations to modernize their security infrastructure while leveraging the current sensor infrastructure, making it ideal for operations in various sites, such as banking, retail or companies with remote sites without personnel present. That is, it is designed for business video surveillance. Importantly, it is not a single device, it is a line of different connected drives that allows an easy transition to a hybrid cloud infrastructure.
Christian Morin, Vice President of Product Engineering and Chief Security Officer at Genetec, said: "This is just the beginning of a new edge platform strategy and a more efficient way to deliver our solutions to customers. We're starting with video, but Streamvault Edge will soon evolve to power a wider range of capabilities, from access control to advanced operations technologies."
The advantage of Streamvault Edge being Linux-based is that it has little or no impact on IT resources, and offers the simplicity of the cloud to facilitate connectivity, configuration/deployment, scalability, maintenance, and upgrades, regardless of where sensor data is stored. On the other hand, it provides system integrators with a solution to modernize existing facilities and extend the life of old equipment, while preparing new infrastructures.
