Latin America. Milestone Systems will increase its innovation capacity by 45% by the end of 2019 and deliver on its promise to develop unique innovations that will meet future market demands in six fundamental areas of long-term innovation.
The objectives of this investment are to boost the ability to develop cutting-edge innovations, including greater integration of controllers, advanced image processing, the Internet of Things and metadata sources, online services, advanced data management and the Milestone Systems Platform Software Development Kit (SDK). The results of these innovations will consolidate Milestone System's leadership position by enabling video and data processing from solution partners using neural networks, deep learning, and artificial intelligence technologies.
"Market trends are changing, at great speed, towards device aggregation, artificial intelligence and augmented visual intelligence. We believe that by consolidating our development capacity in these areas of cutting-edge innovation, Milestone Systems will be able to offer its partners new opportunities for growth in the market," said Milestone Systems President and CEO Lars Thinggaard.
Innovation beyond security
According to the World Economic Forum, by 2022 more than a trillion sensors will be connected to the internet. In addition to the development of these market trends, the demand for intelligent solutions and machine learning technologies is growing. Executives estimate that the Internet of Things (IoT) and artificial intelligence (AI) will produce the biggest changes; 73% say they are investing in IoT and 54% in AI (global digital intelligence index survey conducted by PwC). As part of its long-term innovation investment plan, Milestone Systems will partner with leading technology companies in developing imaging of things platforms to connect, aggregate and protect the ecosystem of IoT devices and platforms.
"Milestone Systems wants to be part of every video installation in the world. To achieve this, we must be able to offer the most innovative video technology platform, which allows our partners to face the numerous challenges that our end users have. We want to take our technology beyond the confines of security, to areas such as buildings and smart cities, where our video technology can play a critical role," said Bjørn Skou Eilertsen, Chief Technology Officer, Milestone Systems.
These investments in innovation will be carried out in multiple geographical points between Copenhagen, Sofia and Barcelona.
