Latin America. The Latin American Security Association ALAS presented last Wednesday, March 16, the new President of its board of directors, in turn recognized Gustavo Gassmann, who held this position for the last two years.
The new President of ALAS is Pedro Duarte, who serves as Vice President for Latin America of Samsung Techwin. Duarte will take over from Gustavo Gassmann, current regional director of Access Control of HID Global and who continues on the Board of Directors of the Association as Vice President.
During the ceremony Gustavo Gassmann expressed his desire to continue promoting the professionalization of the industry and the positioning of ALAS. In turn, he highlighted some achievements that the Association had during his administration. The increase in corporate partners and their active participation in the Board of Directors were some of the figures he highlighted during his speech.
"We owe it to our partners and it's very gratifying to see that we went from a little over 20 corporate partners to have 40 to date. This is the result of years of hard work, which began long before he arrived at the Association, but fortunately it was possible to materialize in this time and that will certainly continue to grow."
Regarding the formation and participation in the Board of Directors, Gassmann stressed that "when we arrived at WINGS we were 12 people, now the board is made up of 17 directors and we all have a great commitment and active participation in decision making".
Alberto Álvarez, CEO of ALAS, was in charge of giving Gassmann a recognition of his work during the presidency of the Association, in which his impeccable management and commitment that have left the name of ALAS in the security industry of Latin America and the Caribbean was highlighted.
Pedro Duarte, who assumes the presidency of the Association in the period 2016-2018, expressed the interest of giving continuity to the initiatives that have been advanced in recent years in the Association.
An important point in the management that Duarte will advance is to encourage the participation of ALAS in the dissemination and creation of security standards in Latin America.
"ALAS is the only Association of its kind in Latin America and the Caribbean, so it has become a benchmark for professionals and companies in the industry for all the work that has been done with training, networking, benefits for partners in the main activities and fairs of the industry, but now we have to go further and for this reason we will seek to develop standards and good practices for the industry accompanied by the best scientific companies and consultants," said Pedro Duarte.
The transfer ceremony was also the stage for the presentation of the new Board of Directors of WINGS Brazil Chapter, Luiz Bonatti, Chairman of the Board, announced the new conformation: Christian Visval, Elisandro Panisson, Gustavo Gassmann, Leandro Martins, Luciano Moraes, Marcos Sousa, Odirley Rocha and Arthur Schuler Igreja.
The new members of the boards of directors of ALAS International and its Brazil Chapter will seek to continue promoting the professionalization of the security industry through education, research and networking.
