Paraguayan government officials announced the installation of about 800 cameras for video surveillance in the city of Asunción and in the state of the Central Department as a strategy to reduce crime in that area of the country.
According to the authorities, it is planned to locate 400 devices in the capital of the country, Asunción, and another 400 in the Central Department. Likewise, the Minister of the Interior, Carmelo Caballero, said that the country will invest 15,000 million guaranies, about US$4 million, for the implementation of this project.
These new cameras will be added to the investment of US $ 8 million, 35,000 million guaranies, made for the installation and commissioning of 328 cameras in the city of Asunción, within the framework of a comprehensive security program that also includes a building for 911 system and a control data center.
