International. The Biometrics Institute (BI) announced the launch of the privacy charter. This is a biometric industry organization that deals with the research, analysis and education of biometric technologies.
"The biometric privacy charter has been designed by the Biometrics Institute to provide universal guidance for end users, suppliers, administrators and buyers of biometric technologies," said Isabelle Moeller, general manager of the Biometrics Institute.
Moeller also added that "the initiative is the public assurance that biometric administrators have followed privacy best practice principles in the design, implementation, and management of biometrics-based projects."
The Institute, earlier this year, had already released the results of a survey that showed the increase in the number of people accepting the growing role of biometrics in society.
The statute is intended to be adaptable to different regions and jurisdictions, has a variety of legislative and administrative frameworks.
