ALAS Management Summit and work for the industry

The activity is always frantic in the ALAS office. We are few, but we do a lot. The phones do not stop ringing and sometimes we do not manage to take some calls because we are attending others. But we like that a lot. We love what we do.

altWe have recently successfully completed a project that has demanded a lot of our effort, the ALAS Management Summit.  With an attendance of 150 people, the support of 5 sponsoring companies (LG Electronics, Sony, Anixter, Honeywell Fire and Axis), in addition to 7 other exhibitors, and a conference program of good level, we fulfilled the objective of starting the ALAS event.

The satisfaction of attendees and exhibitors of the ALAS Summit, the quality of the public and the expectations generated for a next edition are indicators that we are on the right track. This becomes an achievement because the association now has an event that will be held annually for the benefit of the partners and for their strengthening and projection.

We will now devote a special edition to reporting on the Summit, because just a few days after it has concluded, we are now starting the time for stocktaking.

But the ALAS Management Summit is just a sample. In addition to it, we launched in June the two new online courses in Structured Cabling and Smart Cards. They are two new offers of excellent knowledge that have been made available to companies and people in the region who want to be more professional.  These two courses are in addition to the online course for Alarm Center Operators that we launched a year ago.

And, in addition, we have new face-to-face courses. We have already made the successful launch of the courses of Project Management, and Security Systems Integration. No one else on our continent has a knowledge offer focused on electronic security, like the one that brings together these two courses.

This is just to name the new things we have. Because we continue to be a source of industry information through our websites www.alas-la.org and www.noticias.alas-la.org. The latter, the means of information that gathers and communicates about WINGS and its partners.

And we continue with the other 7 courses that we have already taken to many cities in Latin America and with which we have certified almost 5,000 professionals in various areas of electronic security in our region.

We are a means of liaison for many companies. We attend the most important security fairs in the region and some in the United States.

So looking at it well, we're really improving the industry. And we are proud.  To do this we have the support of many companies, which we thank for their contribution, for their ideas, because their executives are members of our board of directors, because they allow us to make the courses come true.

But we want this support to be greater. And we're working towards it. We want more partners to believe in us, we want more professionals taking our courses, we want more people checking our websites, we want massive attendance at our events.

We are really, tangibly, making a better security industry in Latin America. Support us.

I am available to receive your calls and comments. My hotline is 305 433 4765 and my mail [email protected].
A great greeting to all,

Success in first ALAS Management Summit

173 participants, including attendees, speakers and exhibitors, gathered to talk, listen and discuss timely and timely topics for managers of Security Companies in Latin America, which made the first ALAS Management Summit a success.

The event was held on July 21 and 22 at the Hilton Miami Downtown and among the most outstanding topics — thus qualified by the attendees through a final survey — were those presented by the following speakers:

- Luis González Nogales, president of ALAS, on "Security sciences, the new business discipline of the XXI century".

- Mr. Osvaldo González, security manager of the Bank of Chile, who presented the topic "Security management in banking entities".

- Eng. Enrique Lemus, manager of the Mexican integration company Ledú Seguridad Electrónica, who made a presentation on "How to sell security projects".

- Publicidad -

- Eng. Jaime Moncada, international consultant of the fire industry, who read the conference "Standards for the fire industry and electronic safety".

- Lic. Ralph Otero, theorist and international lecturer on security issues, who participated with the conference "The security management of the XXI century".

Also of great interest was the panel discussion of manufacturers, which had to be extended for more than two hours to answer the questions of many of the attendees.

With attendees from the Netherlands Antilles, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, the United States, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic and Venezuela, the ALAS Management Summit fulfilled the purpose of bringing together owners, managers and directors of Security Companies in Latin America in a forum designed especially for them.

The general opinion is that the format of the event is innovative and appropriate, as it allows senior managers of security companies in the region to meet in an environment focused on issues that cannot be addressed in the day to day of companies.

Also noteworthy was the establishment of contacts among the attendees and the possibility of sharing experiences with peers from various countries in the region, which face similar challenges in the management of their companies.

Another positive point was the good organization and excellent attention received by all the participants, who were very satisfied with an event of this type, which was organized for the first time for managers of security companies in Latin America.

Based on a survey conducted among attendees, points for improvement were also detected. WINGS will give special importance to these constructive criticisms of the participants to plan a better realization of the next ALAS Management Summit, to be held in Panama on a date to be defined in 2011.
