Argentina. In a joint work of the Buenos Aires government and the Federal Police and thanks to the images transmitted by the security cameras located in Plaza Bernardo Houssay, in Recoleta, seven people were arrested with 200 grams of marijuana.
The newspaper La Nación, from Argentina, explains that the cameras showed a man who took out of a bag small bags and tiny envelopes, because his attitude was suspicious, the operators of the cameras contacted the 19th police station, with jurisdiction in the area, and one of the coordinators guided the mobile of the police section that reached the public space.
In Plaza Bernardo Houssay there are two domes that monitor the place, the captured images are sent in real time to the Camera Operations Center, under the Undersecretariat of Urban Security of the Ministry of Justice and Security of Buenos Aires.
Also, last November the cameras installed by the Ministry of Justice and Security of Buenos Aires, allowed the arrest of a man who had assaulted with a knife another man who, along with his wife, was sitting on a bench in Alvear Square, better known as France.
Today the city of Buenos Aires has about 200 cameras that record what happens at various points during the 24 hours. Most of these teams have been located in places where there is a large influx of public and in tourism sectors.
