International. Avigilon Corporation announced that it has been selected by USBID (Union Square Business Improvement District) to improve the security of Union Square in San Francisco, California.
USBID's goal is to enhance and promote Union Square, which is known as the 'crown jewel' of San Francisco's commercial neighborhoods for being, a cultural hub and a premier destination.
To increase safety for residents and visitors, USBID in collaboration with Applied Video Solutions, a San Francisco-based engineering firm, installed more than 350 Avigilon HD and HD Pro multi-sensor cameras in a 27-block area. These cameras run on Avigilon network video recorders and Avigilon Control Center (ACC) video management software.
Avigilon HD multi-sensor cameras were installed due to their flexible design that can capture multiple angles of union Square's busy streets from a single camera, to maximize scene coverage and minimize blind spots.
With resolutions from 4K (8 MP) to 7K (30 MP), Pro HD cameras were installed to cover wide areas of Union Square, while still offering exceptional image detail for zooming, allowing operators the ability to identify and quickly respond to potential security events.
"Our top priority is to maintain Union Square as the vibrant heart of San Francisco and a world-class destination," said Karin Flood, executive director of USBID. "The ACC system is easy to use and the camera's image quality is impressive, allowing our operators to perform quick video searches and accurate investigations when an incident has occurred. This has helped deter crime and ultimately makes the Union Square district safer and more enjoyable for our community.
