International. Business Intelligence Group (BIG) awarded Axis Communications with the Sustainability Leadership Award at the 2016 BIG Sustainability Awards.
This recognition highlights those individuals, teams and organizations that have made sustainability an integral element of their business practices and their overall company mission.
Axis' goal is to integrate sustainability into all business processes along the entire value chain. In addition, the company's commitment focuses on the long term, developing projects in the areas of business conduct, social and environmental responsibility. Likewise, dedicate efforts to minimize the environmental impact, promote a healthy work environment and prevent human rights violations.
"Sustainability practices are of particular importance to us and I am personally honored to have Axis Communications receive this prestigious award," said Fredrik Nilsson, Vice President, Americas, Axis Communications, Inc. "These awards recognize outstanding, innovative companies, initiatives and products that are redesigning the business world and changing perspectives on sustainability. I am proud that Axis is part of the change and that we are able to lead by example," concludes Nilsson.
Another example of how Axis implements sustainable business practices is through its active participation with the UN Global Compact and the GRI. In 2007, Axis signed the UN Global Compact, one of the most important and impactful sustainability initiatives in the world. The GRI is an independent international organization that creates a standard for reporting measurable results, the G4, and helps organizations understand and communicate their impact on critical sustainability issues.
"I would like to congratulate Axis Communications on their award. The jury judges made it clear that Axis should be recognized for its outstanding sustainability efforts," said Russ Fordyce, Director of Business Intelligence Group (BIG). "Their innovation and leadership should serve as a model for organizations around the world," Fordyce concludes.
Aligned with international efforts, in Mexico, Axis aims to be a driving force of positive impact in the country by promoting local activities in conjunction with foundations and organizations in order to create a real benefit for the community with projects and programs that provide solutions to their needs. Some of the examples made recently are the donation of cameras, pantry and coexistence activities with the Denisse Bistre Foundation (DB) – a civil organization that provides opportunities and supports children who are in vulnerable situations, strengthening their development and improving their quality of life. Activities have also been carried out with the Milagros Caninos Foundation. In this sanctuary for dogs located in Mexico City, they are dedicated to the care and rehabilitation of animals that have been attacked. Axis donated and installed video surveillance cameras with the aim that both the facilities of Milagros Caninos and the dogs that are housed there were safer through access control and remote attention provided by these equipment.
Finally, following the vision of making technology more accessible to people and thus having a smarter and safer world, Axis has collaborated with the Imagina Cultural and Ecological Center that was born in 2012 in León (Guanajuato) as a result of visualizing that through the musical and cultural education of young people, it is possible to minimize the tendency to vandalism, drug addiction and other negative aspects. Axis made a donation of fixed cameras, dome and 360º in order to monitor all the movements of the school from anywhere and reinforce the security of the facilities and its perimeter.
