International. OT (Oberthur Technologies) has just announced that Etisalat has incorporated OT's digital platforms to launch a mobile wallet service, the first and only of its kind in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
With the massive emergence of smartphones in the UAE, the telecommunications sector has entered a new era, in which smartphones are a daily company and an interface that offers users security and convenience every time they connect, authenticate or pay.
Thanks to OT's e-wallet platform, whose effectiveness has been more than proven, Etisalat is the first to offer this service in the UAE, with which it is transforming the experience of its subscribers by allowing them to use their smartphone to pay bills, recharge credits on the mobile, pay for parking in different cities or buy a wide range of products and services.
Accessible through an app, the mobile wallet designed by Etisalat also allows you to make money transfers. The subscriber can control their transactions through automated reports, notifications and account management features.
"Etisalat is a leader in the markets in which it operates and a long-standing partner of OT. We are delighted to join forces to launch the first mobile wallet service in the country," said Pierre Barrial, Managing Director of OT's Mobile Network Operators unit. "Our platform offers great convenience and a high level of security thanks to a number of advanced mechanisms, such as voice, pin and telephone authentication."
"The UAE is at the forefront of the development of digital payments. It was therefore critical for Etisalat to provide its customers with innovative solutions for mobile commerce and mobile banking services," said Rashed Al Abbar, Vice President of Consumer Innovations at Etisalat. "OT, with its strong track record and expertise in this type of technology is the ideal partner to help us implement our mobile wallet in the UAE."
