Colombia. Milestone Systems, the open platform network video management software (VMS) company, released Device Pack 8.6 for the benefit of partners and customers using Milestone's XProtect® video solutions. The device packs are released every two months and contain software updates – caused by the demands of the user community – to support new equipment. Thanks to its technological base, based on being a truly open platform, Milestone incorporates new devices and functions to the XProtect® VMS at an accelerated pace.
ONVIF support is a clear sign of Milestone's commitment to standards
XProtect® device packs include drivers that have been tested and optimized to allow cameras or other hardware devices to be managed using XProtect® software. Milestone has always promoted standards for controllers such as ONVIF and remains true to its commitment to supporting the widest range of cameras and devices on the market.
Before an ONVIF-compatible device is included in the list of equipment supported by Milestone, in milestonesys.com, this equipment has been tested to verify that functionality with XProtect® meets ONVIF specifications. The analyses to which the controllers are subjected guarantee the maximum functionality of a video surveillance solution, which is fundamental for the operability, efficiency and overall stability of the system. Milestone works closely with manufacturers that are part of the Camera Partner Program (CAPP) to achieve the optimal interaction between their devices and the XProtect® VMS.
In Milestone's CAPP program, this ONVIF functionality test can be done through Milestone or distributors can perform it in their own facilities, after doing a four-day training course taught by Milestone. The ability to do the entire Milestone certification testing process saves camera manufacturers time and costs in their market penetration strategy.
