Latin America. Axis Communications has developed a specific camera to be installed on roads and for border surveillance. From the control room, the operator can control the head of the device to make ultra-fast movements, operate the cleaner to remove rainwater or particles resulting from pollution and activate the side illuminators to visualize vehicles in areas without public lighting.
Installed on top of a pole, AXIS Q86 Series cameras have a complete view of the surroundings, with no blind spots. This allows you to monitor both directions of the road, including sections with slopes, and make 360-degree rounds with Full HD image quality. The images allow road dealers or the Highway Police to know the severity of accidents in real time to provide adequate care.
AXIS Q86 cameras can be used with various patent reading software to monitor infringing vehicles, helping to reduce traffic accidents or identify stolen vehicles, for example. This combination of a robust camera and advanced software also contributes to the identification of trucks carrying stolen cargo.
One of them, AXIS Q8665-E, is ideal for environments with artificial light at night, such as streets or roads that have street lighting. As for areas without lighting, AXIS Q8665-LE comes with an integrated infrared with a range of up to 150 meters, ideal for perimeters or open fields. Thanks to these side illuminators, the camera-robot allows to detect people or animals on the track, even in the dark.
In polluted environments, such as on roads, it is possible to use a special cleaner, purchased separately, for the removal of particles such as dust, sand and soot released by vehicles. The cameras can also be used in other places, such as airport runways or port terminals.
"Approximately 11% of roads in South America are paved. Some countries such as Chile have a road network in good condition, while Peru shows sustained progress in recent years. Likewise, Argentina and Colombia have presented improvements in the modernization of their road infrastructure. The key to tackling crime on these routes is that they become a risk for criminals," says Axis Business Development Manager Andrei Junqueira.
"In this way, we guarantee our customers equipment that offers exactly what they are looking for, with high image quality and advanced video surveillance functions," added the executive.
AXIS Q8665-E and AXIS Q8665-LE cameras are now available for order through Axis distribution channels.
