Latin America. Arecont Vision began shipping its Surroundvideo cameras to the entire global territory. The same, which had been launched in 2013, are versatile omnidirectional camera systems incorporating four multi-megapixel sensors that could be individually adjusted to capture different fields of view in a full range of 360°.
Its unmatched flexibility allowed a single camera to provide the same detailed coverage of four multi-megapixel cameras with the ability to use different lenses for each sensor.
"Our new SurroundVideo Omni megapixel cameras will change the landscape of the design and implementation of video surveillance systems. These cameras offer the unique ability to focus on multiple areas of specific interest using the one-camera solution," said Brad Donaldson, Director of Product Management at Arecont Vision, who further added that "the extreme versatility of our new SurroundVideo Omni megapixel cameras is further complemented by their excellent performance to deliver unmatched levels of enhanced coverage and low-cost wide area surveillance."
Possible configurations of the exclusive SurroundVideo Omni cameras include 270° panoramic coverage using three image sensors with the fourth image sensor pointed directly downwards. This configuration is ideal for positioning in the corners of buildings. Intersections in corridors are another popular configuration, as telephoto lenses can be used to get complete downward-facing coverage in long separate aisles.
The added versatility provided by SurroundVideo Omni cameras eliminates the need for multiple cameras, reducing overall system costs. Arecont Vision's new SurroundVideo Omni cameras are available in 12 megapixel (MP) WDR and 20MP configurations. For additional versatility, low-profile camera systems offer multiple lens options from 2.8 to 16mm.
Arecont Vision's SurroundVideo Omni cameras incorporate wide dynamic range (WDR) up to 100dB with maximum resolution to maximize image detail capture in light and dark areas of a scene without reducing frame rate on the 12MP model. This represents an improvement of up to 50dB (300X) in dynamic range compared to conventional cameras.
SurroundVideo Omni cameras include dual H.264 (MPEG-4 Part 10) and MJPEG encoders, privacy mask, extended motion detection with 1024 zones per channel, and pixel clustering for increased sensitivity in low-light applications. The camera's IP66 environmental rating housing and polycarbonate dome are impact resistant rated for IK-10.
