Peru. A range of technology solutions will help support the company's strategic objectives, including driving innovation, improving operational efficiency and increasing safety at its plants.
The company in question is Petróleos del Perú S.A. (Petroperú), one of the largest producers, refiners and distributors of hydrocarbons in the country, which will implement Honeywell's cybersecurity solutions in order to strengthen the cyber resilience of its refinery operations and accelerate its digital transformation.
Petroperú's multi-year investment with Honeywell includes access to Honeywell's cybersecurity consulting support, managed security services, and threat detection capabilities. With these solutions, Honeywell will help Petroperú further expand its operational technology (OT) cybersecurity efforts in order to improve visibility into potential cybersecurity vulnerabilities and threats across its systems.
"Cybersecurity resilience is a crucial capability to support our sustainable operations during the energy transition into the future," said Fernando Padilla, Chief Engineer of Advanced Controls and Applications at Petroperú. "Honeywell's cybersecurity services complement proprietary software solutions as part of our refinery digitalization and modernization initiatives."
Background
The implementation of the solutions builds on the previous integration of Honeywell Forge Workforce Competency, which the company currently uses to train its industrial workforce, in relation to safer and more efficient operations.
"Without robust cybersecurity capabilities, energy companies – which rely heavily on technology and information systems to operate – can face serious consequences, including financial losses, operational disruptions, reputational damage and environmental risks," said Sunil Pandita, vice president and general manager of Honeywell Cyber & Connected Industrials.
"While Petroperú is already at the forefront of digital transformation within the energy sector, Honeywell's cybersecurity solutions will help identify and minimize potential cyber risks in near real-time, in order to create safer and more efficient operations that benefit both customers and employees," he added.
Honeywell has been working with Petroperú for nearly 50 years. Additionally, it provides engineering, licensing, services and technical support for three units currently in operation.
