Ecuador. The objective of the project has been to protect the integrity of students and administrative staff, as well as the assets and equipment of the institution, through fire and anti-intrusion systems.
The Alliance Française de Cuenca is a large cultural center with an academy that has been dedicated to teaching French and promoting French-speaking cultures in Ecuador for 50 years.
The challenge was to find a comprehensive solution for a 5,000-square-meter campus, without the need for cabling. The mobile constructions, the buildings of complex shapes with glass and concrete roofs, in addition to the many visitors, added complexity to the project.
Venue Security
Due to the tight renewal timeline, the use of traditional cabling would have exceeded the customer's schedule and budget. In that sense, the Ajax wireless system was chosen as the best alternative.
The Hub 2 Plus Jeweller, with capacity for 200 detectors, four communication channels and LTE compatibility, is the core component of the security system. This configuration allows the device to be connected to two different internet providers, via Ethernet and Wi-Fi, while also having two backup mobile phone services.
This system ensures connectivity to Ajax Cloud and the Alarm Receiving Center (ARC) in all conditions.
Meanwhile, the KeyPad Plus Jeweller facilitates local management, while the DoorProtect Jeweller protects perimeter doors and internal classrooms. MotionProtect Jeweller detectors were strategically placed in critical areas for motion detection, and StreetSiren Jeweller sirens provided both deterrence and audible notification.
Fire Protection
Jeweller FireProtect 2 (СО) detectors protect classrooms and critical areas, complemented by the Jeweller MultiTransmitter for integration with third-party smoke detectors. Transmitter Jeweller modules adapt manual alarm buttons to trigger the fire alarm on evacuation routes, and Relay Jeweller relays manage third-party sirens with strobe lights.
Automation scenarios in the Ajax system allow automated actions to be performed in response to alarms and security mode changes or perform them according to a specific schedule. ATS monitors the system 24/7 through the Ajax app, maintaining a connection with the alarm receiving center.
The Ajax app serves as the main interface for the system, and the Head of the Institute is the end user and administrator. Staff have user accounts with restricted permissions, to help them manage security modes and react to events. The app's ease of use and efficiency ensure that safety-related tasks are seamlessly integrated into the staff's routine.
"As a result, the Ajax system has met the specific needs of the Alliance Française de Cuenca, including the easy integration of third-party detectors previously installed in the building, offering a reliable, stable and effective fire and intrusion risk detection system. The system's wireless capabilities played a crucial role in the campus renovation process. They simplified the process by eliminating the difficulties associated with traditional cabling and ensured strict adherence to tight implementation deadlines," the manufacturing company said.
