United States. ISC West, in collaboration with the Security Industry Association (SIA), reported "overwhelming success" with more than 950 exhibitors and brands, including 200 new ones for 2019, more than 30,000 industry professionals, more than 85 SIA Education ISC sessions, more than 20 special events and networking opportunities.
Reflecting the market trend and the urgency for greater collaboration between cross-functional teams and partners, a notable element of ISC West 2019 was the strong combination of end-user security and public safety decision makers, as well as highly influential security integrators and installers. As cyber, operational technology, and physical security technology and processes continue to converge, the audience profile at ISC West reflects and simulates these industry trends.
"The lines between physical security and cyber security continue to combine, as do team dynamics. Organizational readiness and structures were the key trends this year, and we were pleased to present even more education and training sessions to specifically address converged security operations, balanced with major public safety issues," said Will Wise, Vice President of the Security Group, Reed Portfolio.
Amid its featured exhibits, including Unmanned Security Expo, Connected Security Expo, Public Security & Safety Expo, Connected Home Pavilion and Emerging Technology Zone, the event experienced impressive growth of new solutions, particularly with Emerging Technology Zone (startups) and Connected Security Expo, where exhibition space grew by 47% and 15% this year, respectively.
Comments from the exhibition floor were highlighted at this year's event as "... more than a 'great show', many say it's our best experience to date!" said Tim Shockley, Associate Director of Marketing at Digital Watchdog, while Ben Levinson of Securexperts, who "... he attended more than 40 conferences, [he said] this one has been rated as one of the best."
Among its wide variety of educational sessions, some of the busiest sessions included Next Generation Security: The Truths, Myths, the Future of Fusion Centers, and Security Operations; the convergence of cyber and physical security: a shared responsibility, perimeter security best practices to protect critical infrastructure resources, and, in addition, the Active Shooter workshop and the ISC West series keynote sessions with William N. Bryan, acting assistant secretary of the DHS Science and Technology Directorate; Russ Butler, Vice President of Security, San Francisco 49ers Levi's Stadium, and Juliette Kayyem, Honorary President, former Assistant Secretary for International Affairs to President Barack Obama at the first SIA Women in Security Forum Breakfast at ISC West.
"At ISC West, we are thrilled to offer attendees an unparalleled event experience," said Don Erickson, CEO of SIA. "From engaging presentations and hands-on workshops and learning sessions found through the SIA Education@ISC conference program, to the innovation celebrated through the preeminent SIA New Product Showcase program, and exceptional networking opportunities, ISC West clearly delivered the key elements that will have a positive impact on the market and contribute to the future success of thousands of attendees."
Next for ISC's portfolio of security events is the Expo Seguridad event in Mexico City from May 7-9, 2019; ISC Brazil in São Paulo from June 25 to 27, 2019; Cyber: Secured Forum in Dallas July 29-31, 2019; and ISC East in New York City November 20-21, 2019 (co-located with Infosecurity ISACA North America).
Next year, ISC West will be held March 18-20 in Las Vegas.
