Latin America. The IP radar, launched by AXIS Communications to detect and track intrusions in any weather conditions, can now be integrated directly into Milestone's video management platform. From the installation of a set of free plugins, the graphics generated by the radar can be viewed directly in the XProtect Smart Client interface.
The novelty, which also facilitates the management and configuration of rules and radar detection zones, follows the trend of using video software for the management of other devices in addition to security cameras.
"Typically, when there is an intrusion, the operator in front of the VMS screen does not know how many people invaded or what their route is, especially if it is raining, foggy or in an area covered by vegetation. Ip radar shows the path and speed of invaders and reduces false alarms, becoming a useful tool in control centers," says Paulo Santos, Solutions Manager at Axis Communications.
The set of new features, called AXIS Optimizer for Milestone XProtect, makes it easier to identify, install, and configure various plugins, which was traditionally done manually and slower. In addition, new features include distortion correction from panoramic cameras, controls of PTZ camera functions, and focus recovery even in difficult lighting conditions.
IP radar won the Benchmark Innovation Awards 2018 in the Physical Protection (Hardware) category, and is now available throughout South America.
