International. The phone company Vodafone has joined with Huawei and Top Digital to market a smart lock. This new solution, from the three companies, is aimed at the hotel and property management market.
This smart lock is based on NB-IoT connectivity, allowing to guarantee the functionality of the device anywhere, even if there is weak coverage. NB-IoT technology eliminates the need for Wi-Fi or Bluetooth while improving connectivity, reducing energy expenditure and increasing facility security. It is designed to be installed in both buildings and basements.
To apply NB-IoT connectivity, Huawei and Vodafone have worked to enable the E2E solution with the Huawei OceanConnect IoT platform, which offers technical support that ensures the security and quality of the solution.
Daniel Barallat, IOT country manager at Vodafone, says: "Solutions, such as smart lock, highlight the multiple applications offered by our NB-IoT network. This technology opens up a whole new world of possibilities for IoT projects like this and brings innovative solutions to market that bring efficiency and security to customers."
Functionality for users
Companies want to offer consumers a safe and easy-to-use solution in their homes, offices or hotels. Users will be able, through a mobile application installed on any smartphone or tablet, to open or lock the lock. Meanwhile, hotel chains or owner managers will have an online corporate portal, from where they can manage all the digital keys.
