International. Mission 500, a nonprofit charity supported primarily by the security industry and dedicated to serving the needs of children and communities in crisis, raised $48,000 in its third annual "Security Softball" game on Aug. 26 at Overpeck County Park in Leonia, New Jersey.
The event allowed Mission 500 to meet its goal of filling 300 Care Packs of essential hygiene items to donate to children attending Title One schools in the South Bronx, one of the poorest constituencies in the country.
"The event brings the security industry together to support children and families in need," said Jeff Eichenlaub, Director of Strategic Partnerships for Mission 500. "The efforts of all participants and sponsors this year are greatly appreciated by Mission 500."
This year, $2,500 of the funds raised will be donated to the New York Children's Center Fire Foundation Children's Camp, a nonprofit dedicated to advancing burn care, research, prevention, education and proper burn treatment. The organization also sends burn victims under the age of 18 to have fun at summer camp.
Sponsors had the opportunity to raise funds for the event. The awards for raising the most funds as a team went to ScanSource Security.
The event was sponsored by: ADI, Altronix, Anixter, Axis Communications, Beacon Protection, Brooklyn Voltage Supply, Commercial Architecture Magazine, Dahua USA, DMP, Firecom, First Guard, ESA New Jersey Chapter, Hanwha Techwin America, ISC Events, ISS, Ken Gould Consulting, Kurtz & Revness, LRG Marketing, M2M Services, Napco StarLink, NYFAA, PSA Security Network, Rapid Response, ScanSource, SD&I, Security Sales & Integration, Security Systems News, Security Today, Statewide Central Station, and XtraSales.
