International. Fire panel manufacturers continue to adopt regulations related to elevator recovery functionality (also known as Occupant Evacuation Operation or OEO). However, creating a programmable, automated connection across the wide range of elevator manufacturers around the world can be complex, expensive, and time-consuming.
Sierra Monitor's FieldServer building automation protocol gateways provide the translation of communications between fire panel systems and elevator control systems.
Sierra Monitor is currently announcing its latest version of the FieldServer software, which now supports a wide range of Life Safety objects. The new software is certified by BACnet Testing Labs (BTL) and supports a new edge calculation functionality designed to simplify integration and improve the operation of the OEO function.
Siemens Building Technologies' Fire Safety Products group is an existing FieldServer customer that worked with Sierra Monitor to create this enhanced functionality. "The new FieldServer software provides Siemens Fire Panels with more flexibility and a wider range of capabilities for interworking with elevator manufacturers to support OEO," said Mark Pavlica, Director of Product Marketing for Fire Safety Products at Siemens Building Technologies Division.
The FieldServer family of protocol gateways is the proven and trusted solution for life safety and building automation systems. The FieldServer product supports more than 140 different industrial automation protocols and has been successfully integrated with hundreds of equipment manufacturers and thousands of specific models, including dozens of fire panels and elevator control systems.
"FieldServer is a simple yet powerful protocol gateway. For equipment manufacturers like Siemens, FieldServer removes the complexity of integration with elevator control systems and building management systems. For system integrators, FieldServer is the contractor's best friend and is easily configurable in the field to interwork virtually any new or existing system in a facility," said Steve Shaw, Vice President of Marketing for Sierra Monitor Corporation.
The FieldServer family of products is designed to support three main functions:
Protocol translation of proprietary datasets in industrial facilities or equipment, e.g. vendor-specific Modbus data points to BACnet objects.
Connect OEM equipment to existing building automation networks (BAN) and building management systems (BMS).
Enable remote equipment monitoring, troubleshooting, and notifications for OEMs to improve customer service and reduce support costs through SMC Cloud.
