Latin America. Johnson Controls introduced VideoEdge TrickleStor technology, designed to maintain the integrity of video data in a surveillance system in the event of loss of network connection. TrickleStor provides a highly integrated connectivity solution between a camera and a network video recorder (NVR) for Illustra IP cameras and VideoEdge NVRs.
In this way, video is recorded locally on the cameras if the connection fails, which protects against video loss in case of an NVR update or network outages. When the connection to the VideoEdge NVR is cut off, the video is recorded directly to the camera's SD card with the same frame rate, resolution, and encoding.
When the connection is restored, the protected recorded video is automatically inserted into the media database with the corresponding date and time. The missing video is extracted from the camera and sent to the NVR at an ultra-low bitrate to minimize bandwidth consumption caused by video recovery.
There are no discernible differences between the added video and the previously recorded video when reviewing the broadcast. TrickleStor maximizes SD card resources and life by simply recording video to the SD card when the connection to the NVR is lost, creating smooth transmission to the database without user intervention. This automates the video database repair process and reduces the number of areas a customer must consider when network communication fails.
