Colombia. Gartner positions Sophos as a leader in the 2018 Magic Quadrant for endpoint protection platforms, a place it has maintained since the first edition of this report.
Gartner updated the definition of an Endpoint Protection Platform (EPP): An EPP is a solution deployed on endpoint devices to prevent file-based malware, detect and block malicious activity from trusted and untrusted applications, and provide the investigation and remediation capabilities needed to dynamically respond to security incidents and alerts.
"The threat landscape is evolving at a surprising pace," said Dan Schiappa, senior vice president and general manager of products at Sophos. "Over the past 12 months we have seen repeated ransomware attacks that traditional endpoint security solutions cannot adequately protect. To stay ahead of the curve in cybersecurity, vendors must continually analyze the landscape and innovate the protection approach, faster than cybercriminals."
"Sophos' continued presence in the Gartner Magic Quadrant demonstrates Sophos' ability to innovate to refine security in organizations of all sizes. Threat prediction is the key and the deep learning capabilities we have added to our portfolio allow us to do so more effectively than any other next-generation vendor," added Schiappa.
Further bolstering advanced levels of protection within its endpoint portfolio, Sophos also announced that it added a deep learning neural network and advanced anti-exploit technology to the latest version of Intercept X.
Intercept X can be installed alongside any endpoint protection from any vendor, immediately increasing detection speed and accuracy. Sophos says its next-generation network, server and end-user protection technologies will extend its leadership and continue to protect customers as threats evolve.
Sophos further developed advanced machine learning technology to enhance the capabilities of Sophos Sandstorm and is powering automated threat analysis at SophosLabs, its research unit, facilities around the world.
