Latin America. Milestone Systems, the leading open platform company in network video management software (VMS), released its Device Pack 9.2 for the benefit of partners and customers using Milestone's XProtect video solutions.
Device packs are released every two months and contain software updates that support new equipment. This year, Milestone reached 6,000 compatible devices, an unprecedented number in the industry. Additional devices are constantly being added to each new device pack. These updates are always a priority at Milestone: supporting the widest possible range of devices is a critical part of Milestone's open platform promise to its user and partner community.
Support for video with an exceptional level of detail
Support for the Axis Q1659 20-megapixel network camera allows the Milestone community to cover solutions where high resolution and image quality are required. For example, recognizing vehicle plates over long distances, reading information in cargo containers or other more advanced analysis. The size of the camera sensor is the same as that of professional cinema cameras and uses Canon DSLR lenses, which allow the camera to offer an exceptional level of video with the quality of a professional camera like those used in Hollywood.
Expanded support for body cameras
In this device pack, a greater integration for Digital Barriers' EdgeVis servers was incorporated. The new level of integration allows the Milestone community to design unified XProtect solutions with body cameras in low-bandwidth environments.
Other Device Pack Highlights
The possibility of broadcasting two or more types of video sequences with different properties, to different users or devices (multi-streaming), as well as the possibility of sending information from a single transmitter to many different points simultaneously (multicasting), this in order to satisfy the requests of the Milestone community and to provide better support to older devices, was incorporated into the universal ONVIF controller.
Several Dahua cameras were incorporated, among others, the new thermal cameras. Additionally, it is now possible to integrate network video recorders as encoders, which means that it is possible to access video streaming from cameras in XProtect.
Milestone committed to supporting the high-quality ONVIF standard
Milestone works closely with device manufacturers that are part of the Camera Partner Program (CaPP) to achieve optimal interaction between their devices and the XProtect VMS. The same rigorous testing applies to controller standards such as ONVIF.
Before devices compatible with the ONVIF standard are included in the list of equipment supported, on site milestonesys.com, they were previously tested to ensure full functionality with XProtect's open platform technology. This allows the Milestone community to choose the best devices for their end users, from the widest selection on the market. Users have the guarantee of operation of any compatible device.
