Today ALAS has partners in 27 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean, the United States, Canada, Europe and Asia, which in addition to being a sample of the growth of the industry means a challenge for the Association due to the need to generate spaces of closeness with the partners, where actions can be carried out that lead to growth and common benefit and that constitute a platform to listen to those who are our reason for being.
In order to generate a contact that goes beyond an email or a call, in ALAS we participate in multiple industry fairs with events aimed especially at our partners, we also organize our own events that create this closeness.
During 2016 we participated with conferences at the ISC Brazil fair, we held the Latin American Security Cocktail at ISC West together with our partner Security Sales, the Integrators Summit at ExpoSeguridad Mexico, we organized with Huawei the Safe City Summit in Mexico City and we had an academic program and partner cocktail at the Bogotá INTERNATIONAL FAIR ESS.
Other important spaces of interaction are the events organized by the Association for academic, technological and networking updating. The most outstanding of them is the ALAS Management Summit, the meeting point for security managers and leaders, this year the Summit took place on July 26 and 27 in Miami and had wide participation of partners.
The tour of Latin America and the Caribbean is completed with the ALAS Technological Meetings, one-day congresses that mix academic, commercial activity and relationship spaces. In 2016 we were in Ecuador, Colombia, Argentina, Puerto Rico, Chile, Mexico, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Bolivia and Peru.
Each of these events opens up the possibility for our partners to tell us their perceptions and their ideas. So we invite you to keep an eye on the Calendar of the Association and participate in the next WINGS event in your country. For us it will be a pleasure to receive you.
ALAS launched its first National Committee in Mexico
National committees aim to strengthen and direct the activities of WINGS International in a given country. Mexico is the first of the many committees that can be formed in the countries where WINGS has more than 10 partners.
On the first of September, the Mexico National Committee was formed in Mexico City, which will seek to increase the number of partners and activities in the country, as well as promote integration and collaborative work among the members of the Association.
Alberto Álvarez, CEO of ALAS, was in charge of presenting to the attendees the structure of the Committee, highlighting the need to include in all the national committees an advisory vice president, this figure unlike the others is not subject to election, but is appointed by ALAS International and its main function is to ensure the maintenance of the standards of the Association. In the case of the Mexico National Committee, Humberto De La Vega, who currently serves as a consultant, was selected for his career in the industry and his extensive knowledge of the Association.
De La Vega led the election of the representatives of the Committee, resulting in the following conformation:
- President: Carlos García Almeida, President for Latin America, Senstar
- Vice President of Memberships: Gigi Agassini, Director of Accounts and Strategic Initiatives, Genetec
- Educational Vice President: Jorge Luis Hagg Hagg, Demand Generation Manager, Tyco Security Products
- Vice President of Marketing: Sandra Camacho, Project Manager, Security Sales
- Secretariat: Perla Liliana Ortega, CFO, MAK Extinguisher
- Advisory Vice-President, Humberto De La Vega, consultant, Huro
Carlos García Almeida, president of the Committee, expressed his gratitude to the attendees for showing such a high interest in working for the projection of the Committee, also indicated "we are going to go forward, to clearly paint the objectives of each committee, of the presidency and align them with ALAS International. Along the way we will surely encounter difficulties, but we will not stay there, we will work to add more partners and increase the presence in other regions."
The Committee will have the possibility of expanding the group of representatives to the extent that working groups are established in other regions, in which Regional Vice-Presidents may be appointed whose main function is to geographically organize the activities of ALAS International, including assemblies and local meetings in order to reduce distances and encourage the growth of memberships within the country. These committees need a minimum of 5 local partners for their constitution and will work in coordination with the national committee and the board of directors of ALAS International.
In the coming months, the main focuses of the Committee's work will be the definition of WINGS activities that will be carried out in 2017 in Mexico and the structuring of tools that allow greater closeness with Mexican partners.
The meeting in which the election of the members of the Committee was held, was attended by representatives of the following partner companies of ALAS: Tyco Security Products, ISTC, Security Sales, Dahua Technologies, Senstar, Bolide, Genetec, Avigilon, HID, Instala, Mak Extinguisher, Huro and Detnov.
