Brazil. The new SAFE [Event and Sports Access Manager] verified the credentials of athletes, staff, volunteers, suppliers and contractors in order to reinforce high security during games.
While millions of spectators watched races, volleyball, somersaults, diving and a wide variety of other sporting feats, Quantum Secure, part of HID Global, a world leader in secure identification solutions, worked behind the scenes at sports competitions held last summer in Rio, Brazil verifying the identity of athletes, staff members, guests and volunteers to protect the venues where the sporting events took place.
The use of Quantum Secure's SAFE Software contributed to the decrease in the risk of intruders at sporting events, allowing potential threats to be avoided through one of the world's most advanced forms of identity management at mass events.
Quantum Secure's SAFE software monitored approximately 500,000 people who had credentials in Brazil to enter sports venues along Rio. That meant identity verification nearly 3 million times during the competition, in order to ensure that each credential was reliable and not fake.
In addition, about a dozen problems with credentials were detected, most of them mild, as well as an incident in which some people tried to falsify the credentials of others to enter a basketball game. Using its analytics engine, safe software recognized forged documents. The response time was virtually instantaneous.
"Recently, there have been incidents around the world that demonstrate that high-profile activities, such as sporting, political and recreational events, need better protection and smarter management of access to establishments," said Ajay Jain, president and CEO of Quantum Secure. "The power of our new SAFE [Event and Sports Access Manager] Allows us to prevent rather than react, so their primary goal is to eliminate potential threats before they occur."
The SAFE Mass Event Access Manager includes a mobile application that quickly recognizes individuals only by passing their identity credentials through portable peripheral devices. Once the credentials have been read, security personnel can perform a visual confirmation on site via a workstation and/or mobile device. The system can control the entry of all participants in different venues or different locations within the same venue.
"Quantum Secure specializes in identifying the weak point that could become an insider threat because of a false ID, and then neutralizing it without disturbing the event," Jain added. "With years of experience managing the identity lifecycle, we consistently defeat threats at the finish line."
Like other solutions in the SAFE portfolio, the SAFE Mass Event Access Manager focuses on automating and simplifying access and physical identity management, as well as identifying and eliminating potential risks by gathering and analyzing actionable intelligence. Specific capabilities that enhance its use in high-profile or high-security applications include real-time credential validation, integration with multiple portable peripheral devices, monitoring of all access activity, and instant delivery and management of secure access to each identity according to its access profile.
The SAFE [Event and Sports Access Manager] Massive Event Access Manager offers an ideal solution for events of temporary or limited duration where security is a high priority.
