Latin America. Axis, along with Fujio Mitarai, Canon's main owner and CEO of the company, announced a plan to extend its headquarters in Lund, Sweden. Construction will begin in early 2016 and is scheduled to open in early 2018.
"Since its inception, Axis has been a company with its heart in Lund, so we will reinforce our long-term investment and growth in the city. To maintain our leadership in development and research, we will collaborate very closely with the University and the College of Engineering by leveraging local talent from the community," said Ray Mauritsson, President of Axis Communications.
The new building will have nine floors of offices, with a total area of 32 thousand square meters in Ideon Science Park, allocating a large space to the corporate and administrative functions of Axis, in order to leave a complete building for research and development in the former Emdalavägen complex.
In addition to having traditional offices, the new facilities will have large spaces and open designs, with gardens and green areas. There will also be a restaurant and café on the ground floor, next to the conference rooms and a new centre for demonstrations of Axis services.
The new headquarters, with its design, will make a great contribution to the urban and architectural landscape of Lund, hoping for a strong association with axis' long history as a company of innovation and creativity. The building will have ecological certificates by having the highest standards of energy optimization and water recovery.
More than 2,000 employees work at the current facility in Lund. In 2014, Axis was named as one of the best workplaces in Sweden by Great Place to Work and Universum.
