Colombia. Bucaramanga will have $10 billion (US$3.8 million) to provide the streets with eighty security video cameras to guarantee peaceful coexistence, the eradication of violence and the orderly use of public space.
Such an investment will join the $ 7,500 million (US $ 2.8 million) in citizen security for Bucaramanga, Floridablanca and Girón, which was confirmed last week by the Ministry of the Interior, a figure that will be allocated to the acquisition of police motorcycles, multipurpose vehicles, mobile CAIS and patrols.
The mayor of the capital of Santander, Luis Francisco Bohórquez Pedraza, said that "during the time of his administration, about $70 billion (US$26.9 million) has been invested in security matters."
"All this has resulted in a 10% decrease in crime in the city. In addition, the title granted to Bucaramanga as the second safest capital of the country was ratified, according to a national survey of security perception," he said.
