International. Sur-Gard, part of Tyco's Security Products business unit, announces the launch of SG-System 5, a reliable and upgradable IP receiver that supports visual alarm verification solutions.
Designed with the quality standards that characterize Sur-Gard's monitoring station receivers, the SG-System 5 offers important features, such as integrated redundancy and adaptability to future developments, thanks to its ability to monitor up to 1,474,560 IP communicators via Ethernet or via cellular through an upgradeable memory or license keys.
The new SG-System 5 also enables visual verification, as it is compatible with DSC's PowerSeries Neo platform. Working in conjunction with pir cameras, which are activated the moment an alarm is triggered, the SG-System 5 receiver can instantly send still images to the monitoring facility, for evaluation and for the authorities to take the actions they deem necessary, thus reducing the possibility of occurrence of the annoying false alarms that so many costs entail to the companies and at the same time, speeding up the response process when real alarms are triggered.
"In response to the high demand for visual alarm verification, Sur-Gard's new SG-System 5 sends timely and decisive images to monitoring stations that allow them to respond quickly and appropriately," said Hernán Herrera, product marketing manager for Tyco Security Products' intrusion detection division.
With a compact, space-saving design, SG-System 5 provides the highest density of accounts per unit of rack space available in the industry, with fully removable line cards without the need to disconnect the equipment and built-in diagnostic tools that proactively identify and report detected issues to console software. Programming changes can be made via a touchscreen that works with menus or remotely.
