Colombia. Axis Communications introduced a monitoring camera that perfects full HD image quality. Whether in fog or dark, the Axis Q1635 camera can capture sharper videos of people and vehicles on the move, thanks to the addition of a large sensor.
Generally the sensors used in the security market have an average size of one-third or a quarter of an inch. The sensor of the new Axis Q1635 camera is half an inch. That allows you to generate smaller pixels, with less space between them. The result is an image with a high level of detail, well defined and with less noise.
According to Sergio Fukushima, Technical Manager of Axis, the resolution of a camera is given not only by the number of megapixels, but also by the quality. "The size of the sensor determines the camera's ability to generate smaller pixels. The smaller the pixels, and the smaller the space between them, the better the image quality," says Fukushima.
In addition, the new camera combines two innovative technologies. One of them is the Wide Dynamic Range (WDR) – Forensic Capture resource, which makes an immediate compensation of the difference in light in the scene, providing images rich in detail although against a backlight. The other is Lightfinder technology, which generates color images in the dark, with vision better than that of the human eye. Switching from one technology to the other is automatic: when dark, the camera switches from WDR to Lightfinder.
Complementing these main resources, the camera has a set of features dedicated to perfecting the visibility of moving objects, such as Electronic Image Stabilization (avoids vibrations that leave the image blurred) and reading up to 60 frames per second in HDTV 1080p resolution. Thanks to defog, it is possible to digitally compensate images captured in the fog and make them visible. Available for internal or external environments, the camera also has a shock detection sensor, to generate an automatic alert in case of attempted theft or damage.
External internal versions are supported by the industry's largest base of video management software, through the Axis Application Development Partner Program and AXIS Camera Station. The cameras include support for Axis Camera Application Platform and Onvif, for easy camera system integration, and for application developers who incorporate smart resources into the camera.
